Luci Hackett Takes Home a Blue Ribbon with the Hylofit System at the USPC Equine Symposium & Convention
Does Your Horse’s Age Impact the Amount of Warm-Up Needed?
Luci Hackett is a 10-year-old eventer based in Dallas, Texas. As a D-3 Traditional and competitor at the United States Eventing Association (USEA) and North Texas Eventing Association (NTEA), Luci is no stranger to competition. So it was no surprise to us when we heard Luci took home a blue ribbon at the United States Pony Club (USPC) Research Project Fair on February 1st.
Luci was the youngest entry in the individual experimental project category. She decided to work with Hylofit to answer her question, does your horse’s age impact the amount of warm-up needed? Hylofit tracks performance by measuring heart rate in real-time for both horse and rider. This information can help improve training results and assist riders in understanding the emotional and physical state of their equine partners.
Luci came up with this question because she believes riders are not allowed enough time to warm up their horses at competitions. She feels rushed prior to showing and thinks the warm-up portion of horse shows should become more of a priority because not allowing enough time for warm up can increase the chance of injury.
The USPC Research Project Fair was held at the Stamford Hilton Convention Center where Luci presented her project to a panel of judges. During her brief presentation and while taking questions from the panel, she pointed to several Hylofit heart rate graphs from two horses of different ages which proved that it took the older horse longer to warm up than the younger one. The Hylofit team would like to give a big congratulations to Luci Hackett on her outstanding achievement and we eagerly look forward to following her journey as she trains with Hylofit during her next D-3 Traditional.
The Hylofit system is now available for $349 plus a membership plan.
